Week 13 Is a Plan, Not a Surprise

Extensions get offered late, next contracts start on awkward dates, and leases end when they end. The gap between “my assignment changed” and “my lease noticed” is where contract clinicians lose money — usually in double rent, holdover fees, or a panicked week in a hotel.

Why this matters

What it costs to do nothing

Without an exit plan written into the search, week 13 has three bad endings: an extension you can’t house because your unit was re-let; a month-to-month conversion at a rate you never saw coming; or a next assignment across town while you’re still paying rent behind you. All three are cheaper to prevent in week 1 than to fix in week 12.

Why clients choose us for extension & back-to-back planning

  • Every lease we shortlist comes with its week-14 answer already asked: does it convert month-to-month, at what rate, and with how much notice on each side.
  • We flag communities with sister properties across San Antonio’s hospital clusters, where transferring between assignments can carry your deposit and history with you.
  • Notice deadlines go on your calendar at signing, not at panic — most communities want written notice 30 to 60 days out, which lands mid-contract, exactly when you’re busiest.
  • For back-to-back contracts in different metros, we coordinate the handoff so the old lease ends as the new one starts — Luxe works Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, and Houston as well as San Antonio.

The practical answer

This runs alongside the apartment search, not after it. When we shortlist a community you get the conversion rate policy, the notice window, and the transfer options in the same summary as the rent. Around week 8 we check in: extension talk, next contract, or heading home — and we adjust the plan while there’s still time to use it. If the honest answer at week 13 is “keep the unit month-to-month,” we’ll say so even though a new lease elsewhere would pay us and staying put wouldn’t.

Common questions

My extension came through with two weeks left on my lease. Am I stuck?

Usually there are more options than it feels like: month-to-month conversion if the lease allows it, a short renewal if the community will write one, or a transfer to a sister property. What kills options is silence — the moment extension talk starts, tell us and we work the lease side while you work the contract side.

What does month-to-month cost after a short lease ends?

Nearly every community charges a month-to-month premium over the lease rate, and the size varies too much to quote a typical figure honestly. We get the number in writing during the original search, so week 14 pricing is a line you already read, not a letter you didn’t expect.

Can I line up my next assignment’s apartment before this lease ends?

Yes — that’s the cleanest version of this service. Give us the next facility and start date as soon as you have them and we search that cluster while you finish the current contract, aiming the new move-in at the old move-out so there’s no overlap and no gap.

What if I decide to settle in San Antonio for a while?

It happens a lot here. Converting from contract housing to a 12-month lease usually brings better rates and more communities into range, and as a full apartment-locating operation we can run that search too — same person, same file, no starting over.

Your next 13 weeks deserve better than a blind lease.

Tell us your hospital, your start date, and your contract length. We’ll shortlist communities whose terms actually fit the assignment — verified in writing, at no cost to you.
